Dr. Yuman C. Fong, M.D., Director and Professor of Surgery, Professor of Experimental Therapeutics, Director of International Medicine, Oncologist.

On behalf of our Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Giulio Belli, we warmly welcome Prof. Yuman C. Fong from Division of Surgical Oncology, Department of Surgery, City of Hope National Medical Center, Duarte, California, CA, USA to join our Editorial Board as Associate Editor. Hereby, the editorial staff of OAE extend a warm welcome to Prof. Fong. We firmly believe that with Prof. Fong joining MIS, we will make greater progress in academic quality and bring its international influence to a new height!

Dr. Fong is best known clinically for his extensive work in the field of hepatobiliary surgery –– especially for hepatocellular carcinoma, hepatic metastases from colorectal cancer, gallbladder cancer, and cholangiocarcinoma. He has pioneered many surgical, laparoscopic, robotic and ablative therapies for these cancers that occur in over a million people yearly worldwide. Nationally and internationally, he has also participated in and coordinated many studies aimed at understanding, preventing, and treating these cancers. In particular, he is focused on developing low-cost and minimally invasive treatments for these cancers. In addition, Dr. Fong is an author and innovator, who has developed many new surgical techniques and instruments, and written and edited hundreds of scholarly articles as well as nearly a dozen textbooks.
