The First Editorial Board Meeting of the journal Mini-invasive Surgery (MIS) was successfully held on June 15, 2021. The meeting was co-hosted by the Editor-in-Chief  Giulio Belli and Honorary Editor-in-Chief Prof. Michel Gagner. Thirty-Three Editorial Board members participated in the meeting.

The whole meeting was divided into six parts:

1. Moderators' welcome speech;
2. Speakers' presentations;
3. Editor-in-Chief introduced the journal's development, progress, and vision;
4. Acknowledgment from the Editorial Office;
 5. Free discussion;
6. Summary and conclusion.

At the beginning of the meeting, two Chief Editors made a welcome speech. Prof. Michel Gagner said that the development of the journal cannot be without the support of every Editorial Board member. He warmly called on all members to actively contribute high-quality articles to the journal.

During the presentation section, Prof. Lee Swanstrom, an internationally recognized innovator in the minimally invasive surgery field, gave us an impressive speech about "What is minimally invasive surgery today?" Our Associate Editor Prof. Farid Gharagozloo, who is at the forefront of today’s advancements in robotic-assisted thoracic surgery, set forth his opinion about needs and directions for a journal. In addition, our outstanding member Dr. Alan Sihoe, who comes from The University of Hong Kong, gave a speech about "Editorial lessons from minimally invasive thoracic surgery".

Next, Prof. Giulio Belli detailed MIS's current development status, vision, and plan and thanked some members who made contributions to the journal.

In the free discussion section, some members put forward many constructive suggestions and ideas for the journal. The Editorial Office will also summarize and discuss the issues after the meeting and adopt them as needed.

The Editorial Board meeting took about one and a half hours, and everyone was very involved. In the future, our Editorial Office and the Editorial Board will work together to make MIS a high-impact journal! Thank you again for your attendance and support!
