Special Issue Introduction

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is now a global health priority. Despite the introduction of multiagent treatment modalities, many patients with T2DM still do not have better outcomes. Bariatric/metabolic surgery performed in obese patients to attain weight loss has been shown to improve T2DM. This Special Issue aims to discuss the new development and challenges of bariatric/metabolic surgery for the treatment of T2DM to explore an ideal surgeon method to better serve the patients with T2DM.
