Special Issue Introduction
The special issue topic “Minimally invasive surgery in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs)" is very interesting, open, and inclusive. LMICs are evolving rapidly, but the gap between them and developed countries is still huge. Peace and prosperity require that we share the burden, and collaboration is the key.
This special issue is a joint issue of Mini-invasive Surgery and OpenSourceResearch(OSR), aiming to focus on the current situation and development of minimally invasive surgery in LMICs. It sends a message that we are thinking about the other half of the world.
OSR is an international group of researchers that aims to implement information technologies and artificial intelligence in clinical research through multidisciplinary teams. A multidisciplinary team approach in clinical research will improve the design, conduction, and implementation of research in addition to increasing data use/re-use.
OSR’s mission is spreading the research culture in an inclusive way by supporting researchers from LMICs to develop their research skills, thus reducing the expanding gap between developed and developing countries.
